On May 17th, we had a powerful and engaging session at The Goode Fight during our free youth tutoring program. Our focus was on the history of slavery, where students explored a timeline of key events, participated in meaningful work discussions, and expressed what freedom means to them through art and spoken word. We also completed a worksheet and quiz to reinforce the day’s learning.
To celebrate all the hard work, we ended the day with a special Movie Day, watching Six Triple Eight, a moving story that honors the legacy of the only all-Black, all-female battalion deployed overseas during World War II.
A huge thank you to Rydall Grey for generously donating pizza, Chick-fil-A, snacks, and juices, helping us turn the day into a true celebration of learning, reflection, and community.
