What happens when the very structure of your body challenges your survival from day one?
In this episode of Unfiltered Unspoken, we sit down with the incredible Latrea Russ, a woman whose life story defines the word resilience. Latrea was born with Pfeiffer Syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that affects the fusion of the skull.
Latrea opens up about the harrowing realities of her birth, born without the natural protections needed to keep her skull from impacting her brain, leaving her most vital organ exposed. To date, she has undergone over 40 surgeries to correct issues with her skull and brain, navigating a medical journey that most can’t even imagine.
But Latrea is far from a victim of her circumstances. She is the powerhouse founder of More Than My Disability, a company built on the belief that a diagnosis is a chapter, not the whole book.
In this episode, we discuss:
The medical complexities of Pfeiffer Syndrome and the reality of life-long surgeries.
The Unfiltered truth about growing up with a visible disability.
Why she launched More Than My Disability to shift the global narrative.
Her mission as a public speaker and advocate fighting for accessibility and inclusion.
Latrea Russ isn't just surviving; she’s leading a movement. Tune in to hear how she turned forty plus surgeries into a platform for change.
